When Alex isn't digging for pizza in the mud, she works as an ethnographer for us.
She isn't really digging for pizza in the picture, nor is she participating in an archaeological dig. She is actually in Africa, learning how to build a mud stove during her work in the Peace Corps.
Alex, in fact, has spent much of her life helping others, in the Peace Corps, Americorps, and numerous other social service projects. Luckily, we were able to convince her to come and help us out in our ethnographic work.
Alex is a sociologist specializing in issues of culture and gender. She's done extensive projects with children and educaton and speaks, reads, and writes Spanish, tuning into her favorite telenovela, Codigo Postal, whenever she gets a chance.
